Short Intro // Bad Grandpa

Okay, so since this is my first post, I'm going to make it very clear. I WILL NOT be telling anyone where I work. I happen to love my new job, but sometimes a person needs a place to let some frustrations loose.

This is my first example:

I am a server. I've never been one before, so all of my experiences are new to me. I'm not used to this funky, walk around on my feet serving coffee to random strangers all day.
I'm still technically in training, so this blog will be perfect for all of the newbies to the restaurant field.

Okay, so today.... I'm nearing my last day of training. I have the most wonderful trainer, and since I will also NOT be naming names, I'll just call her "D". "D" is the woman training me. I am her stalker for the next couple of days until I go on the floor by myself.
Today, while "stalking" her, we came across one of the "in and out" customers you will run across. This gentleman wanted his order, and wanted it right then and there. 'Oh, you have to cook it? Well, do it now. You are on a timer..' kind of person.
He was very impatient, so our neighboring server took his order while we were delivering to another table. She was very sweet for doing that. BUT! Mistakes happen....
His order was placed and finally came up. We served him promptly of course. But, this customer looked at us when we stuck down his food. Apparently the neighbor and/or "D" got a part of his order wrong. We brought one type of side, he ordered another.
He got so angry and said that it was typical to not get the type of service he wanted. If he'd wanted side 1, he'd have ordered it. Not mentioning WHICH side he ordered, we had to run back to find the neighbor. She told us his proper order once more and we served the gentleman his food again.

Anyway, that was my first bad experience with a customer. It was not fun, but I took his food to him and apologized like a good little server. We apologized profusely, yet to no avail. He was livid.

He now has the title of Bad Grandpa in my book. He's the type of old man you don't expect to see. You think of older men as sweet, butterscotch in the pocket of his button up shirt kind of guys.. Nope, this one was close enough to be a demon with gray hair. Oy.

Anyway, off I go! Got an early shift tomorrow.

Sincerely,
YFFSG
(Your Friendly Florida Server Girl)
